This is my first ever Ipod and also in my opinion, the best ever handheld device, at least for now. The pull factors are so strong that I decided to get this device right away when I know quite a lot are disappointed that there's no FM and camera. I won't want to wait for 6 months or more to see Zune HD get proven that its software/apps community can match up or Zii Egg to get their OS properly done, Android optimized, developers join in the community.
Why I like this device:
1) Awesome OS/software (at least a generation ahead of its peers), browser, apps (so many that they are going to dominate like Windows for many years to come), many free apps, ebooks, huge developer community (you can find whatever apps you need), email, calendar, gaming platform (OpenGL ES Version 2.0) and even education software.
2) Fast fluid flow and response (so far no bugs), due to updated CPU and 3 yr proven and optimized OS.
3) Extremely well designed and engineered for ease of use and comfort. Slim and light weight, keyboard, voice command, multi-touch screen very well done.
4) 64GB, the largest flash memory handheld device. I can put all my high resolution photos and videos inside and yet use it for my daily tasks like surfing, email, calendar, contacts, keep track of live stock prices and charting.
5) Price cuts made it attractive and tempting (they gave me a free engrave).
6) Unlimited flexibility. There's so many tasks to do with it that you probably don't need a netbook.
7) Lossless and gapless music support.
Why I am still a tad disappointed with this device:
1) Still prefer to have FM.
2) No still and video camera. But I feel that even if they include a camera, it will make the device thicker and bulkier and also more expensive. Even so, it is probably a VGA standard for video recording (not 720p) as the limitation is not their software (software is awesome I must say) but the CPU. Their CPU is still very inferior to others like Zii and Tegra. And perhaps they don't want it to be too close to the Iphone and they want to market this as a super versatile platform with focus on gaming.
3) Sound quality not top-notch, just acceptable. I tried using it with my Aurvana X-fi and the quality improves but you just don't feel it is as good as Cowon S9 or sony x1000.
4) I prefer to use my old EP-630 in-ear phones for music/video.
5) Battery life is good but not superior to other comparable devices.
Why I think it may not be the most awesome in the very near future (6-12mths):
1) Zune HD which is so far unproven in software (OS, apps, browsing) have superior hardware such as better screen, 720p out, better audio quality.
2) Zii Egg which is so far the most awesome in turns of hardware but the software will take time to develop.
3) Ipod touch 4th generation...FM, GPS, audio enhancement, better audio chip/processing for music/video/games, dual VGA and HD video cam and simultaneously 1080p HDMI out...Zune and Zii better hurry up to close in the gap or never...
And yes, do not get the 8GB ipod touch as it is still using the old CPU, i.e. not as fast unless you really need to save the money.Get more detail about Apple iPod touch 64 GB (3rd Generation) NEWEST MODEL.
